Rare G1 Transformer Electronic Helmet - Speak like Optimus

The one you’re looking at does work, I tested the toy, it was not made for adults, and the helmet is definitely for a child. This one is in the box with instructions, on/off led light, voice changer and voice amplifier. Not quite as good as the new ones in the toy market but it’s from the 80’s. It’s made a thin plastic with foam pads on the inside. There is a wire that runs from the front of the toy up to the top of the helmet where the voice changer is. If this toys was released in large quantities I would see more of them which leads me to believe it came out towards the end of the run and was not a durable toy so many would not have survived. This is all I have on the toy right now, if you have more info, great. Happy Hunting!

Yard Sale Season has begun, wonder if I can find gas cheap for a $1
The weather has broken and it’s yard sale season, my favorite time of the year. The economy, the government mess, overseas fighting is all going to contribute to this year’s season. With gas at an all-time high, how can anyone drive to all the yard sales in your area? If it cost me more to drive around looking for those treasures, which are few and far between, how can it be worth my while? Yard sales are a compulsive disorder and I’m sure everyone will agree. You need that Saturday morning fix.
However will this economy also bring to the surface some treasures that people need to get rid of for cash? It’s too early to tell but just from seeing a few yard sales last weekend there seems to be a lot of people clearing out homes. The foreclosure industry seems busy cleaning out homes that in-turn end up in box lots at flea markets. If I could I would purchase a scooter to zip around all the yard sales but I don’t think the police will enjoy seeing me with a large corner cabinet strapped to my back driving down the street?

Family Games
Another one we are playing right now is Catch Phrase. 2 teams work to guess the word given by clues from one team member and once they solve the clues, pass the game to the other team in the hopes the timer runs out before they can guess. The game is fast and very fun with large groups.
That's it for now, get back to the kitchen table and play these games with your family.

Avalon Hill Games
Surprising the adult market that Avalon Hills thought would love these games shifted and it turns out that the age groups playing these games were 12 -19 year old. They had a "purchase piece" systems that would allow you to buy pieces of the game instead of having to go out and buy a new one and you could order full games, not online, but by mail.
Some of the more collectible games of this companies ERA would have to be the War games. Games like Jutland, Anzio and Alexander the Great were some of the earliest games. They did every war battle imaginable, from 1776 to Battle of the Bulge. Today in the collectors market it is difficult to find these games in un-punched condition. Many times the pieces, that were cardboard, are in plastic bags and collectors avoid them because of the time it takes to count all the game pieces. Well happy hunting out there.

This week in garage sale land
The hunt kicked off last week with a find of Lego's. My son loves Lego's and finding a bin filled with them is a golden egg at my house. My favorite sets and his are the space sets that came out in the 80's. The new sets are great but the earlier sets were better. We also found several board games some that we added to our website and others that we kept in our collection.
The one that I found finally was MB Battle Masters. I finally found a set that I could use to complete the set I had. Now I have a complete game and extra pieces to sell.
Until next weekend, happy hunting.

Holiday Board Game Buying

Probably the most popular game recently is the Milton Bradley game HeroQuest. The price of this game has recently shot up on the market. The game is very difficult to find complete since is contains over 50 pieces. 4 heroes face a legion of monsters in a dungeon and castle board game. The hardest things to find on the market are the expansion sets that came out later. Those are Kellar’s Keep, Frozen Horror and several others. These are small kits but command a high price to purchase.
Well have a happy holiday season, let’s hope you get the game you are looking for and bring the fun back to the table.

Obscure 3D 80's Board Games

Today we look at a growing trend in 80's-90's board games. There were a series of games putout that had a common design and have become very collectible. The 1st is "It from the Pit" made by Milton Bradley. The object of the game is to land on the treasure chest, but don't get grabbed by It From The Pit, a mechanical arm that comes up and drags you to the pit. The one drawback of the game is that it is noisy. This and other games that I mention below are 3D plastic environments, making them difficult to find in good condition. The game is fast paced and you have to move quick to get around the outside of the playing field. My family and I really enjoy playing this game.
The second game I would like to mention that is designed with a 3D plastic playing board is "Tornado Rex". This game manufactured by Parker Brothers and a great game to play. The object of the game is to move up the mountain and hope that the Tornado Rex, a spinning top, is not released down the mountain. Again a difficult game to find, in a mint box, and without a cracked mountain. If you happen to find one, keep it and play it with your family.
The other 2 games in this series of 3D games is "Fireball Island" and "Crash Canyon". Both of these games are very collectible and difficult to find complete. Well keep your eye out for these games and bring the fun back to the dinner table.

Fiddlesticks I want to play with my toys

This is a very interesting toy that I recently found at a yard sale. It's called "Fiddlesticks" by Knickerbocker Toys. Not much is known about this particular toy that I could find. What really makes this toy interesting is the cross promotion of DC and Marvel in one product. This is a building toy where you have instructions to build what looks like the Bat Plane. The set comes with many different types of pieces, sort of in the style of Knex. What I really like is the 4 action figures that you get with the set. You get the Hulk, Spiderman, Superman and Batman. Now what child wouldn't like a toy where you get the best characters from both worlds without buying two different toys from 2 different toy companies.
Thanks and keep looking for those hard to find toys! www.vintageboardgames.net

MB Mystery Mansion Game

The first game I will post about is MB Mystery Mansion Game. My family really enjoys this electronic game. Produced in the 80's this game speaks to you providing you clues on where to look for millions of dollars hidden in furniture throughout the house. Just like Clue, this game provides you hints about where to look and where not to look.
This game is becoming highly collectible since many of the kids who played the game are now adults. Many times the main piece of the game, the Electronic Organizer is broken or one of the 35 pieces of furniture are missing. If you ever have the opportunity to pick this game up at a yard sale or auction I would highly recommend it!
